Create and Educate

The utilisation of digital video technology in the classroom is rapidly increasing as educators recognise its value as an empowering learning tool for both teachers and students. It creates a learning environment which evokes higher order thinking skills and a deeper engagement with the curriculum whilst allowing students to exhibit a greater level of creativity.

Project based learning with digital video technology allows students the opportunity to shape their own learning process by drawing on their creativity, research ability, co-operative planning and construction skills.

Anyone can point a camera and create a movie, but it requires additional skill to effectively portray meaning through that film. The information in this site will allow students to significantly improve the quality of their video productions within an educational learning environment.

By utilising this technology :

  • Students remain fully on task as they are immersed in the project
  • Research is more thorough as students see it as a valid pre-requisite of the project
  • The project is meaningful as it is being completed for a real audience
  • There is a high level of group interaction as students are dependent on each other
  • A deep understanding of the subject matter is necessary to be able to present it effectively
  • There is long term retention of the subject matter due to the high level of engagement in the topic
  • Students are keen to view the work of other groups as well as their own
  • Students will watch the finished project repeatedly thus reinforcing the subject matter
  • Through Multimedia, school reflects the students' real world
  • Students thoroughly enjoy the learning process
